Speaker Websites That Get Gigs
Speaker Websites That Get Gigs
This session will explore the top questions clients ask when they search for a speaker, and how we can answer them quickly and irresistibly on the home page. We will also reveal the 3 deadly traps that speakers fall into when they plan their marketing and how to avoid them. In this workshop, participants will understand the unique elements that every speaker website needs to have to attract and intrigue decision makers who hire speakers and will leave with a working plan for a powerful website homepage. The workshop combines planned content with hands-on, collaborative sessions that may incorporate interviewing, role-play and brainstorming techniques to help attendees plan copy and content. Participants will also be encouraged to submit their specific website marketing questions. Our goal is to make sure everyone has a site (and a plan) that showcases their brilliance and helps attract consistent and lucrative speaking opportunities.
Who would be the ideal audience for this presentation?:
Are you a speaker who has not updated your websites in 3 years or more, or have you ‘hit a wall’ and want your website and online presence to work harder for you.
What five questions does this presentation address that would be important to our colleagues?
Do you wish it was EASIER to create a stunning speaker website to attract more gigs?
Not sure what to say to showcase your brilliance and distinction or, to convert meeting planners and decision makers to say ‘yes’?
Has it been 3 years or more since you updated your speaker website?
Do you find yourself making excuses when someone looks at your website or one sheet?
Have you had a site built by a designer that looks great – but gets you no traction with your speaking?
Lauren Pibworth founded Pibworth Professional Solutions in 2007, using her skills and experience in the advertising industry and the corporate world to build a brand that fast-tracked her company into one of the most successful and rapidly growing virtual speaker marketing agencies in North America. Fondly nicknamed “Perception Princess”, Lauren Pibworth leads her team of skilled internet marketing professionals, designers, copywriters, and web coders to create solid branding, memorable advertising, and focused marketing solutions that often surpass the clients’ goals. Described as genuine, positive and possessing “an amazing energy”, Lauren leaps into life with a unique mixture of passion, abandon and professionalism. She’s the friend you turn to, and the speaker marketing expert and business confidante you trust. Lauren has served on the CAPS Toronto board as Marketing Chair for 2 years now, and also volunteers with National on their social media and Keynotes. Lauren says that, “Sponsoring the CAPS convention this year was an easy decision. I have been a member of CAPS for 4 years now, and being surrounded by my tribe feels amazing. I chose to work with speakers in part because of the incredible people they are and their desire to change the world through sharing ideas. With CAPS, I get to immerse myself in that energy all the time.” www.PibworthPS.com
Kathy Barthel is a triple threat: performer, copywriter, and trainer. Many copywriters claim they capture your voice in words; but Kathy actually does it. She also teaches lively workshops on writing, blogging and on-camera skills incorporating improv, interviewing and role-play from her 25 years in media with heavyweights like CTV, YTV, and HGTV. A former TV host, producer and journalist, Kathy speaks on brand voice and message and moderates panels that are always thought provoking and entertaining. Kathy is new to CAPS (April 2016) but she is not new to volunteering. She has been an active member of organizations such as Canadian Women in Communications and Technology, and eWomenNetwork, Toronto chapter. She is thrilled to have her first opportunity to contribute to CAPS at Convention! When Kathy was a little girl, her dad said she’d never need a microphone if she were ever on TV! So, it makes sense that she is a speaker and a CAPS member. Kathy says that, “I’m with my peeps! I also believe that success is one part natural talent, and the other part practice and learning from the best, which is why I chose CAPS over other speaker organizations. The ingenuity and calibre of the presentations is very high from skiing into your talk atop a chair, to learning how to negotiate with clients who can’t pay your fee. CAPS presentations are entertaining yet substantive – two of my highest values when giving a talk. I want to provide all of my services through speaking (talks, workshops, my TV/video show, etc.) and I already feel that the big-hearted CAPS community will be integral to that goal.” www.takeontheworld.ca
